Chromecast alternatives?

With today's bricked 2nd generation chromecasts I'm really worried this won't be fixed, and I use the casting feature near enough every day

Call me old, but I went to look at buying a new one and only just found out Google stopped making them a while back, so am wondering if anyone knows of any alternatives that do the job?

Edit: To clarify I mean a device that i can cast my phone to my tv. I factory rest my 2nd generation before i knew of the issue and heard horror stories about getting them working again
