Our goal in life is to impress ourselves
There is the mind, a blank space capable of being impressed (aka “penetrated”) by the outside world. The outside world is a solid mass of substance while the mind (the “inside world”) is like an empty bubble.
When something from the outside world enters the inside world then the inside world is impressed upon. The outside world is infinitely more solid and durable than the inside world. It has all the qualities that the inside world lacks, and vice-versa. Together, they lack nothing. This is why an impressed mind is a happy mind—it lacks nothing. It has the essence of both worlds, the two worlds that compose the universe. Everything in the universe is either a material substance or it is a mind substance. When matter impresses mind, there’s nothing to cry about anymore, only smile.
