Hot take (?): I think Spencer's storyline doesn't need romance

Hey.

I know a lot of people are excited about Spencer ending this season romantically with Diego or Logan.

However, in my opinion, Spencer is a character who doesn't need a romance.

Why do I think that?

Let's start from the beginning. It seemed like Spencer and Diego were going to be the next mlm couple that would be the main couple when it came to romances in a given season.

Of mlm couples so far

In the first season, Tom came in sixth, and Jake was eliminated an episode later.

In the second season, Aiden came in third and was eliminated in the last episode, and James won.

For both couples, their growth in their debut seasons has to be mutual.

I think it's an interesting concept to have Spencer grow without Diego.

I don't know if the writers will go down the predictable path of Diego coming back because of the storyline with Spencer, but I think it would be interesting to see Spencer grow without the character he's in love with.

I'm not saying Spencer won't fall in love with either Diego or Logan, but I don't think Spencer needs to end up as a couple or at least kiss someone.

It's clear that Spencer's previous relationship is a way for him to deal with his past demons and... I just don't think Spencer should immediately enter into a romantic relationship after making up with them.

I think Spencer and Diego will definitely talk during the return challenge and at the motel and/or during the finale, but I don't think they'll become canon in the end. Spencer isn't ready for any relationship right now, but eventually, once he's dealt with his ex, he might just ask Diego for a second chance. They won't be a couple at the end of the season, but they'll say they can try to get to know each other better. Not "they'll definitely be together," but "Maybe they'll be together someday."

Anyway, what do you think about this? Or do you think that a romance isn't necessary in Spencer's storyline? I feel like his plot is more about coming to terms with the past enough to engage in some kind of romance again someday.
