Open vs. robotic myomectomy

Hi again,

I was wondering how many of you have been presented with the option to do either way for surgery? My doctor that found my fibroid, I really feel comfortable with her, but she hasn’t done a lot of robotic surgeries, although she can do them. She would feel more confident doing an open on me, but says she would do either and it’s really up to me.

I can see more of a specialist in May, or I could get this surgery like next month with my current doctor.

I’ve seen many posts about open myomectomies so I know it’s okay to get done, but also read that robotic is the way to go. Has anyone been in this boat before? What are your opinions on one vs the other? Would you wait for a specialist?

I know at the end of the day this is my decision, but for some reason it helps hearing other people’s stories that have been through this. So thank you all.

I am “lucky” enough to only have one that’s 6.1cm growing outside the uterus on a stalk, but pushing into my back. So it seems that it could be a “quicker” removal.

P.S. I’m basically panic posting as I’m filled with such unknowns and uncertainty, so hopefully I’m not becoming redundant on this thread and I really do appreciate everyone taking time to share and offer their opinions♥️♥️♥️
