Do any of you just wear your system occasionally?

Debating between a HT and HS. Looking at my lifestyle, it doesn't really matter what my hair looks like most of the time. There is no need for a system when I'm at home and I can get by wearing a hat when going somewhere (i.e. visiting relatives, shopping, gym, eating out, and so on). There are few situations I can think of where I would actually need one: dating, job interviews, and formal events (which is rare).

I'm guessing that just wearing one occasionally would extend the life of it. Is this something that can be pulled off or are these things meant to be worn all the time?
