I passed!
Just got back home from my test and I'm somewhat relieved to say I passed with only 3 minors!
Two of those minors were for speed, with the other for not entering a yellow box junction (not sure of the official things as I haven't had the email through yet).
The two for speed were purely because I said to myself I'm not going to take any risks during the test, the first one was for going with the flow of traffic on a dual carriage way, the cars were fluctuating between 45 and 50mph, there were a few opportunities for me to overtake but I decided against it as the cars that were coming past were definitely going over the speed limit (Range Rovers!) and were barely leaving a half second gap between each other.
The other speed was for not speeding up in a school zone when the lights were flashing. I know they are advisory but there was a speed limit change just round the corner so I decided to keep it at 20 for a little bit just to make sure, I'd rather get a minor for keeping it slow for a bit longer than a serious for driving too fast!
The third minor was for not entering a yellow box junction, to be fair, I didn't fully stop, I was slowly creeping forward waiting for a time to cross, and because of the angle of the road (130 degrees) I didn't want to go too far forward and do quite a sharp turn, plus being further back gave me a better view of the road ahead.
If I'm being totally honest, if I was driving like I usually would have, I definitely would have been a bit more risky and probably wouldn't have ended up with those minors, but then again knowing me I would have ended up doing something a bit too risky!
All in all, it went rather well. The test route was very easy, and the manoeuvre was a parallel park.
At least I can wipe that smirk off my mother's face next time I criticise her driving and she turns around and says "you don't even drive", she doesn't even know I've been learning so I'll keep it quiet until the perfect opportunity!
