First custom mechanical keyboard build !
Always bought “ready to go” keebs but recently I’ve caught myself reading a lot about custom keyboards and as I am addicted to customize my stuff I decided to do my first run on this new universe as I needed a new keyboard to leave in my office desk. Got really hooked by how DAMN SATISFYING making my own builds is and I loved the results so far. This build consists of :
GMK87 - well, kinda new to this hobby but if my research is not mistaken this board has a good bang for buck ratio with good material and solid components. Plus, I liked that it has a little screen.
Akko Penguin - silent , yet, a soft but very satisfying tactile feedback. Needed a silent switch as this keyboard will be mostly used in my office or when my girlftiend is with me. My experiences typing and gaming with a kumara w/ outemu blues sounding like ak-47’s at night with she trying to sleep where not cool lol
Keycap - its a cherry pbt one I found on aliexpress. I found it cool that they resemble wood and are side printed which is something I wanted to test. They are not doubleshot but seems to have acceptable, more than enough quality. Bought a second set of keycaps called “Roma” to be a replacement in the future.
The ideia of this keyboard is to be a replacement for my G915 which I always bring to work with me. The G915 is a good keeb but is so easy to get scratchs on and therefore I p promoted it to home keyboard only. The new keyboard has as good if not better typing that G915 for me, therefore is my new work keyboard !
