BOTH of my controllers DIED overnight.
I'm really getting tired of the quality of meta products. I've been a Quest 2 user for about 2+ years, during that time i had 2 drifting joysticks and headset not booting up issue. About 2 weeks ago i played my quest as usual and went to sleep. When i wake up and booted the headset it wouldn't pick up any of my controllers.
Investigating further it turned out that the left one is stuck on some faulty firmware issue (see SOS blinking issue many of you posted about) and the right one paired, buttons worked, but couldn't be picked up in 3D space (wasn't visible at all).
I've spent 2 days looking at possible solutions on reddit/yt - none of them worked...
I've exchanged messages with 4-5 support agents, repeating EACH ONE OF THEM basically the same thing over and over. After 10-15 messages they basically said that i'm out of luck because the warranty expired (3 months ago), so they offered me paid refurb replacement...
... Which i took. I've only replaced the left one because i was convinced that the right one will start working if i boot a pair of them (don't know why). I've received the left controller today and it works like a charm, the issue is that the right one is still behaving the same.
Further investigating - i've took a look at the controller through camera lens to see if the IR lights are working - apparently none of the lights does...
I'm so mad it cannot be described by words, how in the earth was it possible that BOTH of my controllers died the same day not during the gameplay, but during night ? and no, no-one plays on it besides me, my wife has motion sickness...
I love quest and was convinced to buy Quest 3 soon, but i think i'll hate myself for purchasing something from meta again - i really hope there was any competition for standalone VR.
