PLM: Rewatch 2025, S3E5: Coq Au Vin
Description: Claire brings her problems with her as she returns, Josh and Arnold discuss monogamy while Tom becomes more enamored with Ella. Hannah is irritated with Stuart and Josh comes to a grim decision about Adele the rooster's fate.
Notes: - Claire’s back! “it’s nice to meet you Arnold” “you’re very pretty” (pause) yeah okay. (Rolls over)
Josh translating Adele’s crows feels like a stand up bit.
Water jet pack dreams. How do we feel about Ella reaallly insinuating herself into Toms life the day after
On one hand I do feel like Josh would pontificate about killing his own meat. Buuut I also don’t know if he’d ever consider going through with it.
“We can’t kill Adele in front of Shakira and Beyonce, I don’t want them living in fear”
I think we all learned about roosters, and killing poultry this season right? I e looked it up and I still don’t fully get why they kill roosters.
Stfu Stewart.
Hannah’s orchid. Orchid’s are tough in my experience, dunno why - but Hannah should have started with something easier.
Hannah’s story about the dog jumping out the window, did she not do that bit in Nanette?
Ugh. Here we are about Josh and Arnold debating monogamy. Honestly this did both feel unnatural for the Arnold we know- but also, I think in matters like these it’s realistically unexpected too. So…
If they say MATHS genius one more time…
“Honestly, whether we’re open or not isn’t going to protect you from me falling in love with some maths genius, if I find someone better than you then that’s just tough” I had a couple friend who had this very mentality, and she went and married some loser and they had kids.
Ella interpreting Tom’s dream as wanting to be more masculine. I have a theory on Tom’s kink. I think he wants to be emasculated by his partner so he doesn’t have to be responsible.
“It’s like watching a Disney princess trying to make it in the modern world” and “I can still hear you with my own ears”
The way Arnold keeps his fingers absentmindedly tickling/picking at Josh’s arm while they ruin my illusion of their perfect monogamous relationship- it’s just such a nice and beautiful choice for actors. Real genuine
I still don’t feel like Arnold would want to be non-monogamous
“Everyone wants my D!” Funny you say that Thomas, cuz just minutes before when you were laying in bed wearing briefs… I won’t finish that thought.
I kinda wish there were some episodes of Ella’s back story. I’d like to see her world outside of Tom’s space/eyes
“I don’t think you’re the worst, you’re the best- like custard”
It IS quite the shot with Tom and Ella on the playground net.
The music in the Adele butchering scene- so ominous. Also, foreshadowing for Claire next episode, how she just takes control and does the deed.
You think they legit killed the bird?
Ugh. I hated Stewart before the misogyny
“I’m just a walking graph of the distribution of wealth, (points to hips) all the poor people (points to head) Donald Trump. Little known fact, when this episode aired, Donald Trump was near financial bankruptcy- as opposed to now where he’s rich as hell but morally bankrupt.
Seeds of “Nanette” in Hannah’s rant
And again, singing a popular song in a S3 episode. You could make a soundtrack
So Ella, played by Emily Barclay married Tom(Thomas Ward) in 2023 after having a couple kids together. Does anyone know if they stated going out after she joined the show or were they already dating by then? I know the show has a lot of friendships behind the scenes so-
