You deserve the original Shrek design.
I know people will react with condescending vitriol telling me its a kids movie and I'm too old to be caring about this and the new design isn't that bad and I'm pathetic for complaining about this but if you've read this far you might actually read what I'm gonna say next: If you like the new design, I'm happy for you. But do you like it MORE than the old one? Or are you simply settling for the new one because you dont wanna be negative or you are perhaps spiteful against people for complaining so much about the new design?
Look, for every person reading this, this message is bigger than Shrek. We should stop settling for "its not that bad" in the realm of entertainment. Just because something "isn't that bad" and its tolerable, doesn't mean we should just put on a happy face and try to force ourselves to enjoy something that "isn't that bad". The original Shrek (especially 1 and 2, not so much 3, but 4 to a certain degree) was so incredible that we didn't have to say "it's not that bad" and force ourselves to be ok with it. It was so amazing that it left an imprint on us forever, and if you don't agree, not sure what you're doing on the SHREK. SUBREDDIT.
And look, whether or not you want to admit it, the original design for Shrek as well as the supporting characters was a huge factor as to why it was so good. More grounded, real, relatable, less cutesy and cartoonish.
TLDR; If you enjoy the new design MORE than the old one, then more power to you. But if you enjoy the old one more than the new one and you are just settling cuz the new one "isn't that bad", I encourage you to voice your dissatisfaction, so the entertainment industry holds themselves to higher standards, so that they don't whittle us down like peeling too many layers of an onion to the point where we just accept whatever they give us because...
