How much gaming or YouTube/TV is "too much"?
"No more than hour a day" is a figure thrown around a ton in Christian circles but is that based on anything or just a "just to be safe" number? I made a post regarding the subject of this and "risking doing it too much" just a week or so ago, though pretty sure that post is deleted.
Instead of asking a question on "is this specific thing a wise thing to do", i want to ask this time: How much is ACTUALLY too much? I hear people even on here talk about spending anywhere from that hour a day or hour every few or more days figure, to none on the work week but multiple on weekend days, to straight up multiple a day and they seem to be doing fine by all accounts(even if the last one could be cut down on for more time for active and/or spiritual habits imho).
Considering my main work as a Christian(outside of prayer, and comfort/admonishment for other believers) is making gaming videos and leading people to the Apologetics front as well as Gospel message on my channel because of that(even if it's more about planting that "seed" for the Spirit to work with through that), I could see there being room for about an hour a day for the video work, and another just for casual play or playing them with family(or a casual or family hour for whatever I wanted to watch on YT, I love the art of video game speedrunning and challenge running, the latter being what inspired my current channel format. I'm also into video game and other computer science in general really.)
Where is the balance struck here? I've been actively working on cutting down on the game time(the majority of my free time was spent on it before, as mentioned in the last post about this), and I am trying to get better at finding other things to fill up that void in my schedule(much of it is just spent lost in thought rn...), so I want to redeem this, considering my apologetic work(even if inly a playlist of other people's vids) only got off the ground even if slightly rn because of this, plus I just want to glorify the Lord with my gaming by sharing my ideas/accomplishment with others outside of that. Thanks in advance.
