Passport renewal poll

I have physically been unable to access my passport for the last 6 weeks but I have it now. I need to travel internationally for business this Thursday and will return the following Monday. My question is this: Given what is happening and possibly coming down the pike, I had planned to renew it early to restart the 10 year clock. I planned to do so the day after I return but this requires I turn it in. I’m not eligible to renew online yet but I’m concerned we might see a government shut down or some other “event” before they would finish my renewal process leaving me without one at all. If you were in my shoes would you risk sending it off for the renewal next week or let it run closer to the 8/2026 expiration date and hope nothing catastrophic happens between now and then?
