Swaps advice for Jazz novice

Not loving the swaps for this month. Signed up for essentials and not into hip hop so Bone Thugs is not of much interest. Wanted to expand my horizons a bit and venture into a jazz title but I've thrown on a couple on the past and my wife in particular gets annoyed once they venture into the seemingly abstract noodling and it quickly gets shut down. I don't mind what I've heard of Jimmy Smith and early George Benson and these go down well so something a bit funky but with at least a semblance of melody would be right in the pocket. Trying to sample a few and so far Brown Sugar seems like a decent choice but if anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them.
