Vehicle building game were you pilot the vehicle as an individual entity (like airmen on steam)

Looking for a game where you build a vehicle then you can pilot it, get out of the drivers chair and run around the vehicle and hop on weapons and stuff. Space engineers is cool but not quite what I'm looking for. I really love a game called airmen on steam, but the game is no longer getting updates and the communities around it are pretty small. I would like to find something similar but with an active developer and growing community
