Assalamu aleykum i have a question thats bugging been bugging me about jesus

He said stuff like i am the son of god And people witnessed him saying these stuff So how is jesus a prophet in islam? The stuff he said were about christianity only And people actually witnessed this why would people lie about this and christianity is older than islam.
