I think revealing this premise, especially this early, was a mistake.

The reason why the debate is going on is because fans have nothing else to draw from, no art, no character names, no clips, no episode titles, not even a specific release date. Therefore, the general logline of the next series is being what it is is going to get an angrier response.

But even beyond that, I also think that knowing the premise before we can see a single episode is a mistake because it then means that you're basically shunting out the people who don't like the premise, or trying too hard to reel them in via something attention grabbing.

I think they should have unveiled other aspects of the show and just kept the speculation going till the first episode where we could be hit with this bombshell of "It's post apocalyptic, and Korra is blamed for it". Then, if the episode were good enough, it would draw in people to keep watching even if they're uneasy with the premise, plus it would shrink the discourse around it to only being once people can actually view the show and the various episodes that'll then come out.

Yet by dropping it now, fans are already going to be arguing back and forth for a long time till the show comes out and then maybe they'll be satisfied if it gives them what they want or sells them on the premise. But, there's going to be plenty who won't watch it or will and still won't like it.

It does feel like in an attempt to get attention, they made a mistake and have now set off a lot of insufferable and annoying conversations, plus made plenty of people not even tune in for the first episode. Maybe I'm wrong, what do you think?
