Heat bill this month

I live in a complex where you have to pay for your own electric, and my heat is electric too including heat for the water. I have been stingy with the heat, only really turning it on at night and my bill for this month is $263, up $100 from last month. My apartment is 800sq ft. Is this normal? I’ve never had to pay electric heat before.
