Can someone pls explain the ending of Vampire Knight anime??

I have literally just finished Vampire Knight (the anime) and am sobbing my eyes out rn lmao. I really loved it but am a little confused by the ending. I get that Kaname, Yuki and some of the others are following them but to where? Also where is Zero going to go? Will he stay at the school? Maybe I'm just overthinking this, but if anyone has read the manga or can answer these questions, pls help me out!! :)
