Why do people choose revolvers over pistols?

It seems to me that a pistol has the advantage of higher capacity and easier / quicker reloading. I just don't see any advantage in a revolver.

I know ideally you don't want to fire once, let alone six or more times. But in the rare occasion someone needs 7 rounds and is holding a six shooter they're pretty much screwed.

Edit: I've had some comments saying a revolver is a type of pistol, which is something I asked myself before posting so I looked it up. They are both HANDGUNS, but the ATF defines a pistol as having its ammunition in a stationary (non-rotaring) cylinder
