When recommending a book to someone you know, are you the type of person who suggests a book you think they’d like or the type who suggests a book you liked and want others to read?
Just out of curiosity!
I recently noticed that my husband and I recommend books differently.
I’m the type to recommend a book to someone because I think they’d like it, specifically. For instance, I have a friend who reads a lot of thrillers and she’ll tend to post on IG about them. When I read something I think she’d like based on books she’s rated highly, I’ll reach out and ask if she’s read it/recommend it to her.
My husband, on the other hand, recommends books that he really likes and wants someone else to read so he’ll have someone to talk to about it. For instance, he’s recommended The Way of Kings to me at least 10 times, knowing I don’t care for fantasy and have a difficult time with world building. I still tried, since I love books (and him), but I’ve yet to make it through more than 50 pages.
I have, however, read a few books recommended in this sub that wouldn’t be my typical picks. Loved some and hated others, so I’m sure my husband’s method does work for some people!
Some recommendations as tax:
Hey, Zoey by Sarah Crossan (a million thanks to whoever recommended that book last year. Definitely not my typical read but was a 5 star for me)
White Cat, Black Dog by Kelly Link (If you’re an audiobook fan, this has some fantastic narrators!)
