Shot in the dark + extra vote

My husband and I have been binging all pandemic and are finally in the new era! We keep debating the shot in the dark with an extra vote.

Basically, shot in the dark forces you to risk your vote for the chance at safety. If you've already lost your vote for whatever reason, you can't use your shot in the dark. BUT if you got an extra vote, could you "sacrifice" the extra vote for the shot, but still use your regular vote as normal?
