West End hit and run. What kind of driver would hit a retiree in a wheelchair, and then keep going?

On Tuesday October 15, around 10:30 am, a retiree in his late 70s (originally from Newfoundland) was crossing an intersection at Comox and Chilco in a motorized wheelchair. A car came around the corner, hit him, and kept going. He's still in the hospital with serious injuries, including a broken pelvis.

No idea if the police will be able to track down the driver, but I sure hope so.

Update (Thursday evening): I just heard that he died today, after two weeks in hospital.
