Self diagnosis & internet diagnosis will be the end of you, you'll walk away with four new disorders and an underlying sickness. Jokes aside, I was very fortunate to have a therapist that specialized in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy). DBT is different than talk therapy and is used for a lot of BPD patients. She was able to diagnose me after around a month of sessions and get me on the right treatment path. If there's anything I would recommend is walk into therapy with an open mind, I wouldn't throw out "I think I have BPD" off the bat, but discuss your emotions, your past, and what you're currently experiencing. Don't expect a diagnosis on Day 1. I was 22 when I was diagnosed, and 24 now with enough DBT skills to help me manage my emotions day-to-day. Just keep an open mind. Hopefully, you get the answers you need!

Lol yeah I really don’t like to say BPD as I’ve only been seen once my a therapist who thought i had a high chance. It’s makes me feel weird lol! The online diagnosis will have me thinking ive got 12+ mental illness lololol!! I’m going to get in contact with my college therapist, I’m just so tired of not knowing what’s up with me, even asking for help here makes me feel like im (for a better lack of words) faking it. Thank you for your advice and as well as for the DBT recommendation, it feels relaxing knowing i most likely wont get a diagnosis in one session. I hope i can find out what is up with my head, i just want to understand it not get confused and frustrated. Again thank you again! It helps me feel less anxious

Everyone is different and not every EUPD/BPD person is exactly the same nor do they all exhibit the exact same symptoms or show them the same. The quickest route to finding out is to either be referred or to refer yourself to be seen by a therapist and to explain them your concerns and wish to be assessed. Personally i found out by “accident” in a way? I went to see a therapist for depression and trauma and after two years + of therapy i was diagnosed with C-PTSD due to childhood abuse and negligence, ADHD then (discouraged/quiet) EUPD/BPD and then they started an autism assessment as well (haven’t finished or gone into it much yet tho). Back then I didn’t even know what this was or ever heard of it. However one important thing is finding the right therapist, being completely honest with them and sometimes seeking a second or third opinion. I went through like 4 therapists before finding the right one and the one before that was trying to tell me i have Bipolar and exhibit histrionic behaviour after just a one 20 minute first session i was like wtf 😬 my next therapist (the one with whom i stuck for 2 years) was scratching his head in disbelief and confusion when i told him.. Also EUPD/BPD takes a good couple sessions to diagnose because a lot of the symptoms overlap with other things as well so it’s easy to just slap a label on things for the sake of it lol…

Thank you for your comment! I’ve always really never got the help needed because I didn’t show (at least what i think ) too strong symptoms, or just never felt right to go for help (the only really strong symptoms are my emotions dropping or going high) . I’ll ask my college therapists and see if they can help or get me in contact with a psychiatrist. As well as the first therapist I mentioned mainly focused on my depression, no blame to her I did in fact tried to go the pill way lol, but i think you are right about seeing and trying new therapist. I just always assumed they could look at me and see what was wrong, if only it was that easy lol. Thank you for your help, it brings me comfort. :)
